Colorado Zombie Outpost

A blizzard is a storm that is usually forecast in advance and can have some time to prepare for its arrival.  This is an extreme winter storm with intense snowfall, whiteout conditions, sustained gale force winds accompanied by below freezing temperatures.  If you are at home, stay put.  The power may be out, not heat, no water, are you ready?  Consider that your home will drop in temperature by 45 to 50 degrees within 3 days.  Everyone that is in your home should congregate with in a couple of confined rooms, closing off unused rooms with blankets over the doors.  The rooms that you have chosen to stay in should have the windows uncovered during the day to allow the sunshine to come in and fill up the room, but covered at night as an insulator to keep the warmth inside.  Below is a list of things to keep on hand as part of your winter survival kit:

  • First Aid kit
  • Solar heat blankets, 1 per person
  • Energy bars
